Siegfried Echterhoff (WWU Münster): The Baum-Connes conjecture
Abstract
The Baum-Connes conjecture on the K-theory of C*-group algebras and crossed products is a central theme in Operator Algebras and noncommutative Geometry with important applications in other areas of mathematics like Topology and Differential Geometry. In this lecture we recall the formulation of the conjecture in the language of Operator Algebras and give a discussion of the current state of the conjecture.
